Ameristar, Walton in tussle over construction work

MO - Walton Construction Co. is checking out of the Ameristar St. Charles Hotel with some excess baggage. The builder of the $180 million, 400-room hotel has filed a suit in St. Charles County Circuit Court to enforce $37.3 million in mechanic's liens. "We have approximately $35 million in change orders," said Steve Biederman, president of the St. Louis division of the Kansas City-headquartered company, the lead general contractor on the project. Developers float plan for Spanish Lake casino

MO - A group called North County Development LLC, based in Wood River, has submitted plans with St. Louis County for a $300 million casino... The area is on Columbia Bottom Road, a mile north of the Interstate 270 bridge in the Chain of Rocks area. Some doubt there's enough demand in the market for yet another casino, the region's eighth. Growth at the region's five older casinos has been sluggish for years. Financing may prove to be a challenge. Walton Construction files lawsuit, lien against Ameristar

MO - The general contractor for Ameristar's new, $201 million hotel in St. Charles, Mo., is trying to collect more than $37.2 million from the national casino company.
