URGENT ALERT FROM CASINO WATCH

4/26/04
PLEASE CALL, E-MAIL OR FAX YOUR STATE SENATOR TODAY
(DO NOT WRITE - THE LETTER WILL GET THERE TOO LATE)

Unexpectedly, on Friday, the Senate introduce an amendment to remove the $500 Loss Limit. If the Loss Limit is removed the casinos will have been successful in removing the last protection that was in place to prevent families from suffering severe addiction consequences. Your calls and faxes will protect our families - BUT YOU MUST CALL TODAY.
Please ask all family, friends and church members to do the same.

WE NEED TO PROTECT THE $500 LOSS LIMIT BECAUSE:
1. It protects us from the mob and drug dealers that launder money at casinos with no loss limit.
2. It protects the elderly from losing everything in one gambling session. (75% of the Isle of Capri's customers are over 50 years of age.)
3. It protects our children from suffering a life of misery under a parent with severe gambling addiction. (Parents gamble food & medicine $.)
4. It protects our economy from losing hundreds of millions each year to the wealthy special interests in Las Vegas.

Please be polite and courteous. Our message must be:
DO NOT REMOVE THE $500 LOSS LIMIT
Don't be led astray if your Senator tells you that they will just give you a chance to vote on the issue. That just gives the casinos the opportunity to buy an election with their deceitful message of more jobs. Please - just take 5 minutes before it is too late. Call others to help. Thank you.

Money laundering is the conversion of money derived
from criminal activity to hide its illegal origin. Criminals
can spend $10,000 of illegal money for chips, gamble a
little, trade the chips back in for new, unmarked money.

"Casinos can play a significant role in money laundering"

Miriam Miquelon, U.S. attorney for Southern Illinois

Illinois riverboat casinos are especially vulnerable because
they have no loss limits, which means drug traffickers gamble
away tens of thousands of dollars in a matter of minutes
against their casino accounts. In contrast, gamblers on
Missouri boats may lose a maximum of $500 every two hours.

"The absence of loss limits is a major reason St. Louis-area
drug dealers flock to the Alton Belle and Casino Queen"

Assistant U.S. Attorney Steve Holtshouser
Eastern District of Missouri in St. Louis.

"When you're in St. Louis and you've got a choice between
Missouri and Illinois, if you're trying to launder money, you
might choose Illinois," Holtshouser said.
